Nonprofit Nominees

 

As WENA who are we donating to? 

 

The donations will be given to a 501(c)(3) organization serving Northern Arizona. The organization must have been a 501(c)(3) for at least 2 years.

 

Polarizing or divisive nonprofits will be avoided because we require members to write a check at each meeting, whether or not they voted for that charity. 

 

Schools, churches and faith based non-profits are not eligible at this time.

A non-profit will only be put in the bowl once per meeting even if several members nominated that non-profit. If a member nominates two non-profits for one night they may speak for both, if both non-profits are drawn. 

 

No national programs will be considered unless 100% of the contributions are to stay in Northern Arizona.

 

Ties will be decided by further votes. If a tie continues, a member will randomly select a charity.

 

The nonprofit organization selected must agree to NOT use the names of members for future solicitations or give our information to the public. If the beneficiary of the donations does not adhere to this condition it will be removed from any future consideration. This is important, as is e-mailing by blind copy to keep members’ information private.

 

Previous donation recipients may be eligible for WENA nominations 2 years after they’ve received their latest WENA donation.

 

The nonprofit organization agrees to provide individual thank yous and tax receipts directly to the contributing members.
